Description

For smaller Asphalt Crack Filling jobs when you don't really want to fill your larger melters and pull them around or you don't perform large crack filling jobs, you will find our smaller Asphalt Crack Sealing Kettles adequate and very portable and much easier to handle.

The Gingway 10 GAL stationary mini melter will hold approximately 10 gallons of hot rubberized crack filler, comes complete with a thermometer, tank hose, burner and molasses faucet.

These mini melters are basically the same as our Melter Applicator but are designed for stationary use.

Gingway's 10 GAL Asphalt Crack filling mini melting kettle has the capability of heating enough crack filler to fill cracks up to 1,200 linear feet per filling.

This melter is just like it's big brother the 30 gallon melting kettle but much more compact and easier to load and unload.

For instructions on use, please see 10 Gallon Flex Kettle operating instructions which are exactly just like the 10 gallon melter / applicator operating instructions.

This crack melting kettle is designed to be used with our 2 Gallon Pour Pot or our 4 gallon crack bander for easy one man operation.

See our Asphalt Crack Filling instructions for proper asphalt crack sealing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to melt rubber in a direct fire melter?

The answer to this question has a few variables that makes it difficult to give a direct answer. The one consistent answer we can give is that you can generally "begin using" the melter within 25 - 35 minutes of firing it up from a cold start.

The two biggest variables to consider are outside temperature and wind. The colder or windier it is, the longer it will take to melt rubber. The size of the melter and amount of rubber will also be factors. Just make sure you maintain the melter temperature at the recommended temperature (usually 375ºF - 400ºF) and always keep a new block of rubber on the already melted rubber to maintain best performance. Exceeding the rubbers melting temperature can burn the rubber and alter its properties. Double check your rubber instructions for proper operating temperatures.

Without going into a lot of detail about the process, it generally takes between 1 - 2.5 hours depending on melter size and volume of rubber to fully melt the blocks from a cold start. This is true on pretty much any direct fire melter regardless of brand and design. The thing to note though, is that you can most certainly use the melter before the blocks of rubber have fully melted.

How do you clean a direct fire melter?

Short Answer: You Don't - Direct fire melters generally don't need to be emptied or cleaned between use. If you're on the job and only use half of the material, simply shut the burner off and allow the remaining rubber to cool back to a solid state. The next time you need to use the melter, ignite the burner and allow the existing rubber to re-melt. On the push melters, you'll find that the wheels will build up rubber as you roll over filled cracks and this can become quite annoying. Simply grab a plumbers torch (sold at any hardware store) and burn off any rubber that has accumulated. This same method can be used anywhere on the melter where you feel it needs minor cleanup.
