Using a tamper will be the fastest and easiest way to tamp the new fill into the pothole. If you perform pothole patching repair as a professional contractor, you might also consider one of our asphalt compactors which will mechanically compact the asphalt aggregate to create an even stronger surface. However an asphalt roller compactor is best for smoothing the pothole patch to help match the grade of the parking lot or driveway you are working on, leaving a clean and professional looking repair job.
