Understanding Spray Tip Sizes
If you aren't familiar with sealcoating spray tip sizes, let's break down the numbers to help you understand what we mean by "80/40" for example.
In the example above, the first number represents the fan width in degrees. So 80 means it has an 80° spray width from the nozzle opening.
The 40, usually means it is the GPM rating of the tip at a standard pressure which usually is calculated at 40PSI. The number is a little misleading though because 40 actually represents 0.40 GPM @ 40PSI.
In the case of an 80/60 tip, it would be be 80° fan width, 0.6GPM @ 40PSI.
Finally you have the thread size of the spray tip. There are all sorts of different sizes available but the two standard sizes we sell are 1/4" NPT thread and 3/8" NPT thread. Since the output of the nozzle is the same for both tips, the thread size doesn't affect performance. This all comes down to personal preference and what your equipment shipped with.
