Asphalt Crack Sealing can be performed using a variety of Asphalt Tools specifically designed for this purpose. The most important thing to remember is that the crack must be clean and dry before the new sealant is applied. The two techniques I prefer are cleaning the crack using a Billy Goat Grazor Asphalt Crack Machine or using a Heat Lance which is capable of delivering 2800 degree hot air to etch the crack and prepare it for new Hot Pour Crackfill.
The Billy Goat Grazor will generally do a better job if your dealing with rooted vegetation but the Heat Lance performs better is colder wetter weather and even allows the user to extend their crackfill season.
Asphalt Crack Repair should always be performed before the Sealcoating process and as necessary thorough out the year as regular preventive maintenance to ensure that the pavement does not develop soft spots.
