Proper preparation here is the key to really good results. Cut out the loose asphalt using a saw or chisel. Remove all loose material.

Just sweep the area of your parking lot or driveway to be repaired, removing loose debris.
Shovel or pour UPM into the hole.
Compact the patch using a tamper and it's ready for traffic.
