Quick Overview:
  • High Fuel Resistance
  • Fast Drying
  • Stays looking new a lot longer than other sealers

Certain industries require a specialized sealcoat sealer that is highly resistant to fuels and oils. While coal tar sealers will hold up to every day traffic of vehicles, Airports and industries that rely on heavy amounts of fuel, need a product they can be sure will protect the underlying asphalt from fuel and oil spills. We offer an acrylic which is a highly resistant sealcoat sealer to fuels.

This is an acrylic based emulsion sealcoat sealer that performs extremely well against fuels and it has a few other properties that make it superior to its asphalt and coal tar based emulsion counterparts such as very low VOCs, and the dry to traffic time is crazy high making this an ideal solution for contractors who need to sealcoat a parking lot and allow traffic shortly after. If you are an airport manager, you know it is especially beneficial to allow air traffic in a short period of time. The dry time is between 20 - 45 minutes at which time you can stripe it. (Dries faster in warmer weather) Dry to traffic time is less than two hours.

Acrylic Sealer vs Coal Tar Sealer

Like we mentioned before, coal tar sealcoat sealers do resist fuel to a degree, but studies have shown that when coal tar sealers have prolonged exposure to fuel, the fuel eventually does weaken the coal tar compounds and allows the fuel to seep through to the underlying asphalt. Fuel and Asphalt are essentially both petroleum based products and consequently, they tend to mix really well. When fuel is allowed to soak on asphalt, it seeps through and mixes with the asphalt binder, causing the asphalt to become squishy and soft. This is a major problem in the airport industry because the aggregate in the fuel soaked areas of tarmacs will loosen up and presents major hazards to nearby aircrafts from the blowing debris. Industries that rely on huge amounts of local fuel consumption like trucking industries can also run into problems with coal tar sealers not holding up and when the heavy trucks drive over the softened areas, it creates pot holes and other problems.
