Maintaining cracks in asphalt is important because if moisture is allowed to penetrate the crack, it will eventually soften the sub-soil under the pavement and create a soft spot. This soft spot almost always creates a Pot Hole and will eventually lead to larger and more expensive repairs to the pavement.

It's also thought that Asphalt Crack Sealing is more important that Sealcoating for this reason. Many times when you give a bid to a customer, they opt to repair the cracks rather than reseal the asphalt. It's much more important to keep the cracks filled than resealing, even though resealing makes the surface look like new again.

When you research tools for this service, keep in mind that you can spend anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars depending on the tools and equipment you decide on for your specific needs and more importantly, budget.

You will find that Hot Pour is better than Cold-Pour because it adheres to the pavement better. This is especially true if you use a Heat Lance or similar Torch to etch and clean the crack prior to refilling it with Hot Pour. However Hot Pour will require you to invest in a special Melter that heats and melts the rubber to 425 degrees.

The Melter Applicator you receive in this Asphalt Cracksealing Package is ideal for this purpose and we also include a full pallet (Aprox 2250LBS) of Direct Fire Hot Pour. You can use the included Pour Pot to fill the smaller cracks and refill it from your melter applicator as needed.

After you apply the fresh Crackfiller, you can use the Asphalt Crack Sander included in this package to lightly Over Sand the crack allowing for immediate traffic on the pavement.
