Asphalt Crack Repair Combo Package #7

Asphalt Crack Repair combo #7 is designed for both the professional or individual who needs to repair cracks in their asphalt pavement and wants professional results.

This package includes our Billy Goat Grazor wire wheel crack cleaner as well as our ASD-10 Asphalt Crack Melter and 350 pounds of our Direct Fire Hot-Melt asphalt crack sealer along with our premium Asphalt Crack Squeegee.

Asphalt Crack Filling is one of the most important aspects of Asphalt Pavement repair and should be done prior to Sealcoating the pavement. Some companies specialize only in Asphalt Crack Repair and do quite well as it being the only service they offer.

If not addressed, moisture, dirt and grass will enter the crack and penetrate the surface of the pavement leading to "Soft Spots" (Which leads to Pot Holes) and vegetation will bust the pavement. Moisture will freeze and this will also bust the pavement. Usually these areas will become Alligatored first and that is the beginning of a serious Pot Hole which will require a different repair procedure.

Using the equipment in this Asphalt Crack Repair package is not complicated and requires no previous skill, however you should observe safety precautions because your dealing with motorized machinery, flying sand, dirt and a propane fired kettle that melts hot rubber (400 to 450 degrees)

Properly cleaning the crack will be very important and this will not be a tough task when using our Billy Goat Grazor Pavement Crack Cleaner. The Grazor utilizes a replaceable 8” wire wheel that drops into the crack and removes the dirt, vegetation and debris at the correct depth and and is powered by a powerful 5.5 HP Honda GX Industrial engine and all you do is push the machine. Its similar to pushing a Lawn Edger.

As we mentioned in the above paragraph, Depth is very important because your crack should not be any deeper that 1/2" from the asphalt surface. If your dealing with cracks deeper than 1/2", you will need to fill the crack with a Backer Rod or sand before applying Hot Crack Fill, otherwise your pouring melted Hot Crack Fill into the dirt and wasting your material and money.

After you clean a section of crack (two or three hundred feet is advised), it's time to use your ASD-10 Asphalt Crack Melter to apply hot melted crack filler into the cleaned crack. It is advisable to have turned on your ASD-10 burner torch about fifteen minutes before your ready to use it allowing it time to preheat

Pushing the ASD-10 and staying on top of the crack, slowly push the machine (See the below video) and pull the valve handle allowing melted rubber to flow through to the crack and you should also have already dropped the scraper down as well, which will drag and pull excess sealer with you on top of the crack.

Speed will depend on the width of the crack, the wider the crack the more material you will need and the slower you will go. If you move too fast you will likely need a second application.

Some Asphalt Crack Repair professionals sprinkle Asphalt Crack Sand on top of the fresh applied crack sealer, this is to give the sealer a flat finish helping it blend with the existing pavement and it allows pedestrian traffic on the pavement sooner. We have included our 22 LB Asphalt Crack Sand machine in this package.

A simple rule you can follow for calculating the amount of crack filler you will need is that you will use approximately 30 LBS (1 box) for 500 to 600 Lineal feet of 1/8" to 1/4" crack at 1/2" deep.

If your crack "Reopens" after the crack fill dries, you can touch up the crack with a variety of products including:

• Cold Crack Filler which comes in a one gallon bottle or five gallon bucket
• Asphalt Crack Caulk which uses a common caulk gun
• Asphalt Crack Stix which are chords of meltable rubber
